A background running, multitasking enabled app, that alerts you to loss of cell / wifi service!

New! Now supports EMAIL of the full data logging of loss of cell service. A full color map showing pins where each location of no cell service occurred. You can now email yourself (or anyone) a complete log sorted by date (with Carrier name) of the long/lat data and time of cell service lost.

Need to know when you lose cell phone reception? Even if your phone is in your pocket or briefcase? This is the app!

Worried about the reception issues you have read about? This app is always watching for loss of reception, even when you are not looking, and will alert you if it happens. A must for people who cannot afford to miss calls! Nurses, Doctors, Police, Firefighters, Moms and Dads: Never miss that important call again because you are in a dead spot with no cell service.

Note: Known limitation: If you are connected to a known WiFi network, this app cannot detect the loss of 3G/4G/LTE while connected to WiFi, I am actively working on a solution to this. For a workaround, turn off WiFi if you absolutely need to know when the cellular signal drops out at all times.

Dont ever miss an important call or SMS text message again, unaware that you have no cell service. Have Cell Guardian monitor for you - from the background!

** New! Mute toggle for Wifi alerts and Battery Alerts per your feedback! thank you!

** New! Now with AUDIBLE Low Battery Alerts. Warns you from the background with a pop up alert, plus sound, that your battery is below 50% and then below 30% and down to 5%: This is something the iPhone does not have built in, remember the older phones that would beep to warn you of low battery? now you can have that great feature back!**

**No surprise bills in the mail!**

Lots of download apps for music and video can seamlessly go from your home Wi-Fi to a LTE network without a hiccup, thats great, but not so great if you have a capped data plan and have to pay for that LTE time! Let this app warn you when you leave Wi-Fi for LTE every-time.

You can easily test this app by turning Airplane mode on and off while the app is running, or by turning Wi-Fi on and off. You will see the pop up alerts.

Another fun way to test this: If you use Wi-Fi at home, walk around your block and see how far you can get before the app beeps to tell you you lost your Wi-Fi connection.

If you are not on iOS 4 or later yet, you can still use our "No Signal" app which runs on all versions of the OS (but does not run in background mode).

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Pros and cons of Signal Alert app for iPhone and iPad

Signal Alert app good for

Hi! Im a fresh user of this app that really satisfies my need. In fact, I want to be informed of any signal loss because I am on-call for professional reason and cannot afford to miss any call. I do not use logs and locations but this could be helpful according to your use of the app. Two quick wins that could be added according to me : 1/ It would be great to be informed of signal loss even when connected to WiFi. I really look forward to seeing this improvement and hope a solution will be found soon. 2/ It would also be great to be able to change the alert : the simple SMS tone is too short and I am worried I could miss it if iPhone was in my pocket for instance. The possibility to change for a longer ringtone, or alert that doesnt stop until it is cutoff would be perfect.
Nice app so far. the only thong is that I need a NOISY alert that wakes me up when the WiFi shuts down - not only a polite "bleep". Maybe an additional setting to tones can be implemented quickly?
Exactly what I was looking for! My only suggestion would be if you could view a log file of when & where (using the GPS coordinates) service was lost and restored. Then you could physically view on a map where particular dead zones are. *edit - author just added a map view! Now this app is perfect! I havent tried the new map view out yet, but thanks! Thanks for the great app!
I downloaded this app because I want to log data to prove to my cell provider that I have intermittent signal reception even though I live very near one of their towers. This app logged a signal drop within the first 5 minutes and displayed it on the map. This is great(!), however it does not appear to give a history log of all drops at that location. Right now I can only tell my provider that it dropped at least once; it would be more useful in my application if I could show history of date stamped drops over time. Nonetheless, it appears to do what it says it will do. Good job so far. Please add this feature! Thanks.
Is it possible to make it so a person can change the alert sound please?
I am a logger and it helps to find a usable signal even in the most remote areas.

Some bad moments

If you do not allow access to GPS for privacy, and want to use only as alert, the app does not work in background.
Signal Alert has secondary functionality to signal when battery is low, by vibrating and sending a popup notice. The fact that these signals also appear when the device is charging doesnt give confidence about the quality for the remaining parts of the application. I cant find any use why to signal that battery is low when being charged. The WiFi/Signal Alert function also has the habit of sending more notifications than is good. Especially in edge cases where there is no signal and a few seconds later there is signal again. Notifications every second are pointless too. Request to the developer is to add a lot of user preferences to let the user control when notifications are sent and when not. And no, signaling low battery when charging is not a candidate for a user preference. User preferences could be: - enable/disable location based services (i didnt find any reason why the current app version needs any location based capabilities) - custom battery alert levels (3%, 5%, 10% would be of my interest, not 50%) - no (gsm) signal messages within: (a) ... seconds/minutes (5) and/or (b) ... meters/miles (100) when using location service (dont notify too often) - enable/disable gsm Signal Alert (when I would only want WiFi or battery alerts) - action to take when entering WiFi range: (enable airplane mode) [priority: low] - action to take when leaving WiFi range: (disable airplane mode) [priority: low] - or at least open the phones general settings instead of Signal Alert app when tapping on a WiFi alert message, to quickly turn wifi/airplane on/off [priority: low] - number of alert repeats (when out of range and another signal might be available == airplane mode enabled or wifi disabled), interval (time) between repeats
It says I always get a signal, even when I dont. So it cant sense a signal lost, thus it does not work. Im on ios 5.
I have an iphone 6 with ios 8.2 and this app just locks up .. Can not open any of the settings etc. Might be better if they update it to be compatible :(
Doesnt work... Only warns you of a signal lost IF THE APP IS RUNNING..!!!!!! Wont notify you if the app is running in background... No good...
Doesnt do what it claims. No logging of outages. It will notify you if signal drops but no way to see any history. Email export function just sends a blank email. Very frustrating. At least it is only $.99 down the drain.
